World Map of Social Media Shift Progression

Vincenzo Cosenza of has released the June 2012 edition of his World Map of Social Networks. According to the Social Times blog, he uses Alexa and Google Trends traffic data to determine the global use of social networks and maps it out over a map of the world. It shouldn't be a huge surprise, but Facebook continues to overtake other social networks across the globe.

Since Cosenza first started tracking social media trends across the globe, we have seen a considerable consolidation of sites from the 17 that existed in June of 2009 down to the 7 that dominate the globe now.
