Thanks for all the interesting tips. I will definitely check it out. I just blogged about another scent marketing campaign in Sweden - still very focused on product promotion rather than brand value: http://360view-molsson.blogspot.com/

Danny,

Thanks for pointing us to Atmosfera. I was pleased to see use of scent even beyond product promotion.

All,

If you look at the atmosfera website you can find many example of Multi-National Brands using scent to promote products in the Point of Purchase. Some of the names are Jo Malone, Nestl'e and more.

Merci,

Las Vegas casinos have been known to use signature scents, and Singapore Airlines I know has their own signature scent, but I'd have to say that I see more opportunity than anything else. Many brands neglect this aspect of their identity, or pay it very little attention.

Good point. Do you have any examples of brands that have included scent as an essential component - I am referring to brands that are outside of the fragrance industry.

Merci,

I haven't seen or smelled any campaigns utilizing scent.

I think the real opportunity here is for brands to find ways to incorporate scent beyond campaigns. For it to really be effective, it has to become an essence of the brand.

Hi Chris

No, I haven't been able to track down these billboards yet - will do. Have you seen or sniffed any scent marketing campaigns in your part of the world?

Merci,

It is an interesting opportunity that I believe is waiting to be busted open. The ideas have been around for a while, but have been slow to take shape.

You'll have to keep us up to date on what's happening in Sweden with scent marketing. I noticed your post about the Dove boards that have incorporated scent. Have you been able to track any down?

I've been following this scent marketing trend and it is starting to take off in Sweden. I recently wrote about a scent marketing campaign in mini billboards throughout Stockholm. Read more here: http://360view-molsson.blogspot.com/

<!--%kramer-pre%-->the world. It is so interesting to follow the different categories such as scent marketing of designer clothes, food products and everyday home products such as laundry detergents and shampoo. Here is an interesting one from good marketing blog calledThe Marketing Fresh Peelwhich has called scent marketing called "Scratch and Sniff Marketing (Without the Scratch)". I have childhood memories of scratch and sniff stickers and books - this "scratch" marketing has made it to 2.0.<!--%kramer-post%-->
